Location: 1 Wright Lane, Honeysuckle Budget: $28,741.10 Honeysuckle Lights was a large-scale digital projection activating the historic Honeysuckle Point Railway Workshops precinct in Newcastle. Installed on the façade of the Australian Wine Selectors building, the project reinterpreted the site’s industrial heritage through contemporary animation and light. Aligned with the City of Newcastle Creative Cities agenda, the installation increased after-hours engagement, supported the night-time economy, and strengthened connections between public space, heritage, and digital practice. Delivered through collaboration between SABE and SOCI, the project also functioned as a live teaching platform, building student capability in projection design and urban activation. Supported by the Newcastle Port Authority and a Community Placemaking Grant from Newcastle City Council, Honeysuckle Lights demonstrated a transferable model for digitally activated public space in Newcastle.
